The Second Zambia Mining and Investment Insaka has come to a close in Lusaka with Mines Minister Paul Kabuswe committing to ensuring the SI on Local Content is implemented.

Mr Kabuswe also said the Ministry of mines is ready to build capacity for local contractors and Suppliers following the signing of the Local Content into law.

Speaking when he closed the 2025 ZAMII, the Minister said it has always been President Hichilema’s vision to empower Zambians hence his courageous move to ensure local contractors and suppliers are empowered through the first ever SI.

“ As we ensure the implementation of this SI, I also urged the leadership of contractors and suppliers to call their members to action.

‘We will follow up with PACRA to ensure all those to be engaged are local companies and I will soon travel to the Copperbelt to meet Contractors and Suppliers and encourage them to take advantage of this Presidential gesture,” he said.

And Mining Guru Dr. Sixtus Mulenga urged Zambians to celebrate the SI on Local Content as it would contribute to the country’s economic growth through the transfer of technology and guided capital that would attract investment.
