KCM bags two Golds, Silver awards

Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has won big at the 2026 Zambia National Kaizen Conference held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.

 

In a statement, the event saw KCM teams scoop two gold and one silver award in their debut appearance as the teams from Konkola Business Unit impressed judges with projects showcasing problem-solving skills, data-driven decisions, and solutions aligned to KCM’s goals.

 

“This achievement is a testament to KCM’s commitment to operational excellence and innovation. We are proud of our teams for showcasing Zambia’s mining sector’s potential,” said KCM Chief Corporate Affairs Officer John Kunda.

 

Dr. Kunda said KCM’s achievement sets a benchmark for Zambia’s mining sector, highlighting its commitment to best practices adding that the awards demonstrate the company’s focus on driving efficiency and sustainability in its operations.

 

He outlined that KCM will continue to support initiatives that promote continuous improvement and contribute to Zambia’s economic growth as the awards ceremony recognized organizations and individuals driving innovation and excellence in various sectors.

 

Dr. Kunda further emphasised that the conference theme, “Leveraging Continuous Improvement for a Prosperous Zambia,” matched KCM’s focus on operational excellence as the mining firm’s win underscores its position as a leading player in Zambia’s mining industry, committed to delivering value through operational excellence.
