In its persistent and suatained quest to public healthcare delivery in North-Western Province, First Quantum Minerals (FQM) Trident, through its Trident Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, has officially handed over the newly constructed and fully equipped Wumi Mini Hospital in Kalumbila Town today.
The state-of-the-art facility, built at a cost of K18.7 million, has been handed over in a colourful and culturally rich ceremony attended by five traditional leaders, led by Senior Chief Musele Musonkantanda IV, and key government officials including Minister of Health Dr. Elijah Muchima, Provincial Minister Robert Lihefu, and several other government officials.
Representing FQM is Dr. Godwin Beene, the Country Manager, who reaffirmed the mining giant’s long-term commitment to sustainable community development through targeted investments in health, education, and infrastructure.
The ceremony featured vibrant performances by Kalumbila Local Women Entertainment Group, Kamwachi Cultural Group, and Mangoma Performing Arts, adding a local celebratory flair to the milestone event.
The official program included ribbon cutting, plaque unveiling, and a guided tour of the hospital, which has provided critical primary healthcare services to the growing population of Kalumbila and surrounding areas.
This partnership stands as a shining example of how private sector investment, when aligned with public priorities, can deliver tangible benefits for communities.
