Airtel Africa has reduced its diesel consumption by 9.1 million litres while achieving a 94 percent waste recycling rate, marking a major milestone in its sustainability journey and reinforcing its commitment to responsible growth across the continent.
The achievements were highlighted by Airtel Africa Chief Executive Officer Sunil Taldar during a media roundtable held in Lusaka, where he presented the Group’s 2025/26 Sustainability Scorecard.
Taldar said the company continues to deliver meaningful impact through investments in connectivity, financial inclusion, education, environmental sustainability and community development.

Under the School Adoption Programme, Airtel has invested in classroom infrastructure, computer laboratories, internet connectivity and sanitation facilities in schools located in Chipata, Solwezi, Mufulira, Mansa and Mongu.
The company is also contributing to Zambia’s digital economy through the ZICTA Innovation Challenge, which has trained more than 500 innovators, supported the commercialisation of over 30 startups and helped create more than 200 direct jobs.
Meanwhile, Airtel’s Tech for Her Programme has provided digital and entrepreneurship training to more than 300 women and young people. The initiative includes specialised technology training for 200 women and entrepreneurship skills development for 100 youths.
