Zambia’s security sector has received a major operational boost following the donation of 80 brand new vehicles from the Chinese Government to the Zambia Police Service under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jacob Mwiimbu officially received the fleet today, describing the gesture as a strong symbol of the growing diplomatic and strategic partnership between Zambia and China.
The donation comes at a critical time when enhanced mobility and rapid response remain essential for effective policing and public safety across the country. The new vehicles are expected to strengthen law enforcement operations, improve response times, and support crime prevention efforts nationwide.
China continues to play a significant role in Zambia’s infrastructure, economic, and institutional development through various bilateral cooperation initiatives, with FOCAC remaining one of the key platforms driving collaboration between African nations and China.
The latest vehicle handover further reflects deepening Zambia–China relations and highlights continued international support towards improving public service delivery and national security.
Observers say the development could significantly improve operational efficiency within the Zambia Police Service, especially in underserved and high-demand areas.
