ZDA hosts Swiss business delegation to explore investment opportunities in Zambia

The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has hosted a high-level delegation of Swiss business leaders and companies in a business forum aimed at exploring strategic investment opportunities and strengthening economic partnerships between Zambia and Switzerland.

The engagement brought together key players from both countries to explore potential collaborations in mining, commodity trading, energy, logistics and agribusiness, sectors considered critical to Zambia’s economic growth and industrialisation agenda.

The forum also provided a platform for Swiss and Zambian businesses to identify investment opportunities that could contribute to job creation, industrial development and economic diversification in line with the Government’s Grow Zambia strategy.

Speaking during the engagement, ZDA Director General Albert Halwampa said the visit presented an important opportunity for Zambia to strengthen its position in the global mineral value chain, particularly through commodity trading and value addition.

Mr. Halwampa observed that Switzerland hosts some of the world’s leading commodity trading companies, including Glencore, Trafigura and Mercuria, whose expertise and international experience could play a significant role in supporting Zambia’s economic ambitions.

He said partnerships with Swiss firms could help Zambia move beyond the traditional export of raw minerals towards greater participation in mineral trading, processing and value addition.

The initiative is expected to open doors for increased investment, technology transfer and business collaboration, while positioning Zambia as a stronger player in the international minerals market.
