VICE-PRESIDENT WK Mutale Nalumango has said technology is vital in finding solutions to national food needs.
Ms Mutale-Nalumango said it was for this reason that the ongoing Zambia Agriculture and Commercial Show should help create solutions to the national food needs.
She said her office, through the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU), was mandated to create strategicpartnerships with stakeholders such as the organisers, exhibitors and show-goers in ensuring that the country was food secure.
“This is why the show’s theme; ‘Innovation through technology’, is timely as we look at innovative ways to meet national food demands,” Ms Mutale-Nalumango said.
She was speakin
g during a luncheon held during the show in Lusaka yesterday.
Ms Mutale-Nalumango said the organisers, exhibitors and show goers should collaborate in making the event successful.
She said this was because the show was a critical platform to create a global market for Zambian made products.
Ms Mutale-Nalumango said the exhibitors should package their products in a manner that would competitively attract a wide market.
The luncheon was co-sponsored by Barrick Lumwana Mining and the Zambia Industrial Commercial Bank.
